Summary

The Warehouse Operations Manager will be directly responsible for directing all aspects of operations at a Bulk Warehouse Services/Nautilus Logistics Company facility. This highly visible position will oversee productivity, costs, revenue creation, maintenance, and customer retention. Through analysis, asset, and personnel management, this position will maximize shareholder value. The position shall implement the priorities of management and its customers and maintain corporate policy and procedures. The position will safeguard the reputation, employees and assets of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing warehouse activities and servicing customer per agreement.
  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations at the Bulk Warehouse Services Company ("BWSC") warehouse.
  • Communicate closely with the Sr. Director regarding operational and commercial priorities.
  • Manage an operations team and vendors to manage cargo inventories, receive, and deliver all cargo from port to/from trucks.
  • Ensure performance, productivity, and profitability of the facility are in line with corporate objectives.
  • Proactively engage customers, warehouse staff, outside vendors, freight brokers and truckers regarding regulations, service satisfaction, contractual needs and other relevant matters, as the situation requires.
  • Uphold local non-union and customer contractual obligations.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental compliance rules, processes, and regulations.
  • Establish and implement local policies, practices, short- and long-term goals and operating procedures, as necessary, to meet organizational objectives.
  • Act as liaison to customers and external vendors and other applicable local and federal agencies and organizations.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate and all regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for local employee development, morale, and annual evaluations.
  • Take ownership of safety program and works closely with safety manager and/or director to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure all applicable corporate communications are effectively, efficiently and timely disseminated to local staff.
  • Continuously evaluate local procedures for improvements.
  • Oversee, manage, and direct daily priorities and projects, which will include environmental and general building permits for Truck Scales, Lighting upgrades, and conveyor/bagging systems.
  • Hire and terminate staff through Human Resources.
  • Handle local labor grievances and complaints; coordinate same with Human Resources, if applicable.
  • Approve purchase orders, supply requisitions and invoices within established scope of authority.
  • Approve time and attendance, overtime, and time cards of staff.
  • Schedule staff and approve time off requests.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the warehouse.
  • Responsible for the safe operations of mobile and fixed warehouse equipment.
  • Responsible for participating in all mandatory training requirements, as directed by federal, state, and local government agency directives and company guidelines.
  • Ensure operator level maintenance of all machinery and equipment before and after operations.
  • Must have a day-to-day knowledge of warehouse operations, maintenance, and housekeeping status.
  • When necessary, may operate equipment to facilitate customer needs and workloads.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and secure agreements with consultants and vendors.
  • Develop forecasts and budgets.
  • Assist other operations with operational, engineering or maintenance issues.
  • Participate in industry functions and attend meetings.
  • Regular, predictable and reliable attendance.
  • May work weekends and holidays.
Requirements

Knowledge & Experience
  • Equivalent of a High School diploma and 7-10+ years of progressively responsible, related, experience in Logistics and Warehousing or equivalent experience in warehouse or marine terminal operations.
  • Knowledge of operating procedures for all warehouse equipment such as mobile & fixed operations equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or logistics, preferred.
  • Ability to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card.
