Job Summary:

The senior staff accountant is responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with organizational and accounting principles.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Engaged in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and related reporting, to include balance sheets and income statements.
  • Collaborate with internal administrative units on month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts ensuring proper coding and classification of costs to the correct account / period.
  • Reconcile cash accounts to bank statements.
  • Maintain fixed asset records including acquisitions, dispositions, and asset verification audits.
  • Reconcile payroll in NetSuite weekly.
  • Assist with annual audit process / requests.
  • Assist with internal controls related to accounting and fiscal checks and balances to monitor and ensure compliance with organizational policy and federal / state regulations.
  • Prepare entries for the trial balance within NetSuite.
  • Assist with M&A projects as assigned.
  • Assist with annual review of accounting policies and procedures.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret Information.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Power Point)
  • Experience with Sage Systems a plus.
  • Must be a Team player.
  • Ability to travel when assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance Required.
  • 7 years of accounting experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
