Infrastructure Director, Business & Information Services

Location: Hybrid with 2-3 days per week in Newark, DE or Dover, DE office locations, periodic travel as needed

The IT Infrastructure and Operations Director plans, directs and oversees IT Operational activities that cover IT Service Management, Service Desk, Data Center operations, Servers and other infrastructure areas.The role has a broad set of responsibility covering virtually every aspect of IT infrastructure and operations.This position will manage the helpdesk, server and data center operations team.This position will support the CIO in running the IT infrastructure operations efficiently and effectively across the function.

What you'll be working on...

  • Ensures high availability and optimal performance of IT systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversees daily infrastructure operations, implementing best practices and automation to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Manages data center operations, including disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring business continuity in all scenarios.
  • Directs and allocates resources for infrastructure-related projects and programs, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Maintains effective communication with senior management, project teams, and business stakeholders to align IT infrastructure with organizational goals and needs.
  • Strong strategic thinking capabilities, with a proven track record of aligning IT initiatives with business goals and driving digital transformation.
  • Manages key vendor relationships.
  • Develops IT policies and procedures in keeping with business needs and control requirements.
  • Prepares, manages, and optimizes IT operations budgets, leveraging industry benchmarks to drive cost reduction while maintaining service quality.
  • Leads IT Service Management team and IT service desk . Delivers high customer satisfaction, improving metrics and costs and ITSM process maturity.
  • Develops and enforces IT policies and procedures that balance business needs, security requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and industry advancements, implementing innovative solutions to improve infrastructure operations and meet evolving business needs.
  • Support organizational development within the IT department, mentoring team members and fostering a high-performance culture as part of the BIS leadership team.
Who you are...
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • 10 years of experience is managing IT operations for a mid sized company.
  • 7 years of experience with IT Service Management and ability to balance end user satisfaction and costs.
  • 5 years of experience in managing vendors, contracting and realizing efficiencies by effective contracting and technology selection.
  • Experience across a broad range of technologies including Microsoft Office, Servers, VM Ware, SQL Server, Cyber Security tools, Networking and SAN.
  • Strong process orientation, with experience in establishing and maintaining strong internal controls frameworks and documenting operational procedures.
  • Experience in architecting the Technology infrastructure via understanding of on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure components.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and the ability to influence senior leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Expertise in data center operations, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity strategies.
  • Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) principles and best practices, including ITIL framework.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in establishing and managing the budget for infrastructure.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in Planning and executing infrastructure related projects.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong work ethic and bias for action.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize work, acts with a sense of urgency driving for completion of tasks and projects.
  • Experience with automation technologies and their application in IT infrastructure and service desk operations.
  • Strong vendor management skills, including contract negotiation and relationship building.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in IT infrastructure and their potential business applications.
  • Analytical skills to interpret performance metrics and drive continuous improvement in IT services.
  • Project and program management expertise, with a focus on delivering IT infrastructure initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and implement change management initiatives effectively.
  • Strong strategic thinking capabilities, with a proven track record of aligning IT initiatives with business goals and driving digital transformation.
  • Availability for off-hour calls and systems work as needed.
