Position Summary

The Infection Control Coordinator is responsible for performing surveillance activities related to the identification, prevention, and control of potential infections and assist with the preparation and presentation of infection control educational programs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assists with developing and implementing a system for identifying, investigating, reporting and preventing the spread of Healthcare Associated Infections (nosocomial infections) among patients of all ages and healthcare personnel.
  • Collects infection control information delineating the frequency and nature of infections occurring in the Hospital.
  • Assists in epidemiological investigations of all significant clusters of infection above the expected level.
  • Assists with the development, review and modification of guidelines, procedures and standards of care, practice and performance for the Department of Patient Care Services and infection control function.
Education/Experience
  • ASN or BSN from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a RN by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital setting and reasonable knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infectious disease.
  • Obtains and maintains current certification in BLS, and other required certificates in specialty areas.
