About the Role

The Development Manager collaborates with the executive team and other staff and interns in advancing the fundraising strategy for the Center for International Policy. This includes facilitating donor fundraising to pursue the organization’s strategic goals and maintaining a coherent and coordinated fundraising infrastructure, including durable systems for managing donor relations at all levels from small donors to foundations. Position Responsibilities Include: The statements listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel as classified. Work closely with the executive team to assist in assessing and adjusting the annual fundraising strategy, including creation of new materials in support of communications with prospective and current donors and strengthen fundraising processes Implement all fundraising activities including outreach mailings and online appeals. Assist in the planning and execution of special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization Research possible large contributors, including philanthropic foundations and wealthy individuals Coordinate with program staff to track foundation communications, reporting and proposal submission deadlines. Coordinate the preparation and submission of all program and general support proposals and grant reports Maintain the CIP Bloomerang CRM database with the assistance of interns Coordinate with the President/CEO to plan and carry out an annual schedule of major donor visits Assist with the development and management of the fundraising budget Experience, Skills, and Education

Knowledge and Experience Comprehensive knowledge of and commitment to CIP’s mission Requires at least 4 years of progressive professional work experience in development and external relations with a proven record of success in major gifts, foundation funding and special events Proven track record in managing an organization’s fundraising strategies and campaigns Proven track record developing and writing written products that have an impact on fundraising Demonstrated ability to collaborate within and across teams Skills and Education Bachelor’s degree or its international/work equivalent in a relevant field Ability to effectively communicate CIP’s mission and its work Understands fundraising best practices and is able to identify all target audiences Grant writing experience is preferred Strong initiative and follow-through and the capacity to think creatively and strategically Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required Must have prior authorization to work in the United States The Center for International Policy is an equal opportunity employer.
