Job Scope: This position will serve as a key liaison between the Construction Department and our Finance team to report and analyze job costs to enable Management to make critical business decisions. This position will also be responsible for critically analyzing construction job costs to review cost to complete, identify trends, and review overall averages for building costs. Develop an in depth understanding of the Burkentine construction and accounting process(es) to assist in process analysis and improvement. This position will also be responsible for reviewing, auditing, creating/improving processes and procedures to improve the effectiveness and systems of the job cost reporting across the company.

Supervisory Responsibility: The construction job cost analyst will have no immediate supervisor responsibilities at this time. This could be subject to change and the job description would be updated at that time.

Executive/Functional Report: Director of Construction
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities of Excavation Supervisor:

•Analyze & audit weekly job cost transaction reporting performed by Construction Managers.

•Review budget overages and pull reports highlighting issues and report them to Management.

•Review job cost by community monthly to determine current billings, % complete, per unit costs, and reviewing what cost to complete is billed out and can be updated by Purchasing to reflect accurate costs.

•Developing and Generating Reporting to Ownership and Executive Leadership detailing current and accurate job costs.

•Ensure completeness and accuracy of all construction job cost reports and reporting procedures to include open projects, close out projects and profitability.

•Work with construction department team members to obtain cost information needed to accurately report results.

•Cross referencing job cost % complete with building project schedules in Smartsheet for % complete to see how the costs compare to the building schedule.

•Publish monthly and annual cost report statements in accordance with Executive mandates.

•Support accounting operational strategies by evaluating trends to report to management.

Requirements

Other Qualifications:

•Must have a valid driver's license.

•Must have an associate's degree in accounting/finance or a similar field or equal employment experience.

•2+ years' experience in Construction Accounting / Job Cost Accounting required.

•To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Computer and Mathematical Skills:

Must possess a working knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Suite of products to include, but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. This individual will also be operating in an Accounting Software called Premier which houses all the job cost, reporting, etc....

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Salary Description

$60,000.00 + Based on Experience
