This position provides vision, leadership, and direction for all academic support programs at JWCC. Duties include oversight of the Learning Resource Center, Instructional Support, Testing Center, and Tutoring Programs.

John Wood Community College

John Wood Community College is the educational link between business and community in the West Central Illinois Region. JWCC collaboratively creates innovative and relevant academic and training programs with business leaders to educate people and the workforce for today's needs and tomorrow's opportunities. JWCC has centers in Quincy, Pittsfield, Baylis and Mt. Sterling, Illinois. John Wood Community College is an educational leader in comprehensive community college education in West Central Illinois and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Established in 1974, the college's main campus and administrative center is in Quincy, Illinois. The main campus opened in January 2002 and is located on 150-acres of beautiful, sprawling landscape. Required Qualifications

Master's degree in education or a related field required. 3-5 years of relevant experience required. Knowledge of trends and best practice in academic support programs for students, faculty, and staff, in higher education required. Proven ability to establish relationships among multiple groups to identify academic and professional development needs required.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for academic support services for all faculty and students at JWCC.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Learning Resource Center, including ensuring compliance with Illinois state requirements for participation in the CARLI library Consortium as well as participation in the RAILS- Researching Across Illinois Library System.
  • Directs, plans, and supervises the learning resource center plan of service including all aspects of the programs and physical facilities.
  • Oversees the Instructional Support area including faculty and student training on the use of the college Learning Management System (Canvas), coordination of faculty course development and professional development software program licenses, and oversight of the online course audit process.
  • Coordinates with the divisions of TRiO Support Services, Campus Care, Student Engagement, and Instruction to collaborate alignment of services, programs, and training opportunities to support JWCC faculty and students.
  • Directs, plans, and oversees tutoring, tutoring services, and the institutional tutoring plan at JWCC.
  • Collects and utilizes data to drive operational decisions across all academic support areas for the College.
  • Ensures faculty, staff, and student knowledge of learning resource professional development services; directs learning resource center staff in the modification of services based on the needs of the college.
  • Serves as the lead budget manager for the areas of the Learning Resource Center, Instructional Support, Tutoring, and Testing Room.


Work Schedule

Normal work schedule is Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.
