Position Summary:

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for creating purchase orders and completing purchasing tasks for S-E-A. This individual organizes and monitors purchasing activities of assigned supplies, equipment, services, and utility contracts. This position works in a cross-functional team environment within S-E-A.

We are looking for an individual with the willingness to learn and grow in a team environment. This individual should be organized, detail-oriented and have an ability to switch tasks frequently.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Track the progress of purchase orders from creation to delivery
  • Communicate with internal customers to meet their purchasing needs
  • Manage relationships with vendors and maintain agreements
  • Report on annual expenditures for supplies by vendor
  • Investigate potential suppliers and create vendors in system
  • Negotiate purchasing contracts
  • Respond to ad hoc requests in a timely manner
  • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback
  • Maintain process documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Business Management, or related fields preferred
  • 2-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Deliver reliable and timely reporting with a focus on attention to detail
  • Possess critical thinking, negotiation, and problem resolution skills
  • Analytical, flexible, and ability to learn new processes and procedures
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and effectively communicate with multiple levels within the organization
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to listen and communicate over Zoom, MS Teams or via phone
  • Ability to sit at computer for extended periods of time.
