Summary: As a Mechanical Engineer at HME, you'll drive a broad spectrum of design, manufacturing, testing, validation, and quality engineering - on a consistent basis - and as a manufacturer of emergency vehicles you will find more purpose in your work. This position at HME specializes in the cab and chassis components of fire trucks. Qualifications A Bachelor of Science Degree, Mechanical Engineering or related. A capacity for critical thinking and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. The ability to comprehend, analyze, and execute on schedule. Good written and verbal communication skills. 1-3 years of experience in product development, design, or related. Competency with 3D CAD design using standardized GD&T principles. Qualifications That Will Set You Apart 3 years experience in automotive, heavy trucks, or related engineering. Experience in drive train, Power train, Cab Interior (ergonomics, Dash layout, HVAC) Experience with FEA simulations. Sheet metal design experience. Experience with automated or metadata-driven modeling (e.g., DriveWorks or Autodesk iLogic). Hands-on experience with automotive or heavy truck components. 2 year's experience using Solidworks(large assembly. General Physical Requirements: Combination of office and production floor environment (no specific ratio) with light to moderate physical work - required to exert up to 30 lbs. of force periodically, up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally. Office work is generally sedentary in nature. Office environment physical demands include: being seated at desk for extended periods while talking on the telephone or working on a computer; walking, standing, occasional lifting and carrying (up to 15 lbs.); frequent near vision for reading and computer work; repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists for keyboard and other business machine usage; occasional stressful conditions.
