to view more details about this job. The City of Bryan, Texas is currently accepting applications for Planning Administrator. Hiring Range: October 2023 Responsibilities include: Oversees urban planning-related activities of assigned staff to include hiring; ensuring on-the-job training and staff development; assigning, directing and reviewing work; establishing and enforcing work standards; approving time; evaluating performance; addressing performance concerns; and providing guidance or answering questions from staff, customers, other agencies and the general public. Plans, coordinates, and supervises the execution of long-range projects relative to the physical development of the City in accordance with the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Understands trends at local, state and national levels and identifies and recommends new methods for administering planning and zoning programs, and maintains data for future updates of the Comprehensive Plan and development-related ordinances. Oversees the preparation of timely, complete, accurate, and concise written technical reports and correspondence for various City boards and commissions and the City Council. Makes verbal presentations before various City boards, commissions, City Council, community groups, and governmental bodies. Assists with planning and development-related review responsibilities and administration of City ordinances and guidelines as part of the City’s Site Development Review Committee (SDRC) process. Meets with representatives, professionals, citizens, and organizations to explain development-related policies, procedures, and ordinances and to encourage action or resolve problems related to the planning activities and projects. Assists in comprehensive planning activities, including conducting background research and data collection, formulating long-range land use plans, development policies, and special planning studies, and preparing related reports and plans. Organizes and holds public hearings for staff presentations and/or to gather information to advise boards, commissions, and subcommittees. Assists Development Services Department management with development code and ordinance interpretations. Prepares, commits to, and implements a structured, self-directed program for continuing professional education that leads to continued certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); fulfills other professional education obligations as needed. Performs related duties as assigned. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Transportation, Urban Design, Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Economics or a similar field of study plus at least 4 years of related experience;

or

a Master’s degree plus at least 2 years of related experience. Must possess previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience. Must possess current American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification. To Apply:
