Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Develops, inputs into design, validates, and brings new products to market. * Specifies precise new product functional requirements. * Has input into design, tests, and integrates a variety of moderately complex components to produce a final product. * Evaluates, modifies, and presents a design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis), and safety. * Plans, executes, and defines product specifications, process validation plans, and validation/verification testing for a variety of moderately complex products and/or components. * Reviews designs, material specifications, and bills of materials. * Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, outside suppliers, designers, and product specialists to optimize moderately complex designs for manufacturability. * Supports product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs). * Acts as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers. * Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary. * Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline. * 5 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in new product design and development. * Experience in issue resolution and problem solving. * Experience in applying engineering knowledge and improving products, services, and processes. * Experience with engine operation, basic physics, and testing processes. * Experience with engine fuel, ignition, intake, exhaust, and turbo system design and development. * Understanding thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. * Understanding of internal combustion engine thermodynamics cycles. * Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills. * Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects. * Design experience with a variety of materials (i.e., plastics, aluminum castings, sheet metal) and basic knowledge of material specs and use. * Ability to translate technical information to all audiences. * Experience with Microsoft Office products. * Previous experience with SAP or equivalent ERP.
