Responsible for asset allocation implementation, portfolio construction, and manager selection within firm discretionary multi-asset model portfolios (

including Edward Jones Models, SMAs and UMAs

).
Serve as a deep investment subject matter expert and deliver high quality recommendations, including asset allocation/investment selection, in an efficient manner to support the Canadian Portfolio Management Team (PMT) areas of influence and support other areas of the organization in pursuit of firm objectives.
Ensure recommendations of the team are consistent with Edward Jones investment philosophy, adhere to our established investment process, and deliver performance that meet or exceed expectation on behalf of clients through active participation on Canadian PMT.
Must satisfy education and experience requirements to be licensed as a Portfolio Manager
Bachelors degree required (business related degree strongly preferred)
CFA designation required
CSC and CPH required
MBA and CFP an asset
Proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, and other software programs (Morningstar Direct, Microsoft Office, FactSet, Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, etc.)
Minimum Years of Experience Required
7+ years experience as a portfolio manager with coverage and/or extensive industry experience strongly preferred

Required skillset

Strong knowledge of asset allocation, portfolio construction, stock selection, and portfolio risk management.
Strong knowledge of various types of investments, asset classes, and markets.
Extensive knowledge of mutual fund and money management industry including various managed investments (mutual funds, ETFs, UMAs, and separately managed accounts).
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a high attention to details and client focus.
Ability to position portfolios according to identified investment risks and opportunities.
Broad understanding of Edward Jones investment philosophy and business model.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing and presenting research to FAs, clients, asset management companies and internal areas within the firm (including governance committees and/or independent boards).
Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to express ideas and research to other areas of the firm, mutual fund companies, and money management firms.
Ability to represent Edward Jones by meeting with money managers and senior management of mutual fund companies and money management firms.

Problem Solving:

Very strong critical thinking skills required.
Ability to solve complex, non-routine problems, often with incomplete information

Ability to apply sound judgement and formulate recommendations by analyzing large amounts of information.
Senior Portfolio Managers will regularly and proactively make investment decisions based on a thorough and detailed analysis of historical data and future expectations.

Decision Making:
High level of authority. Analysis requires gathering all relevant facts, analysis of the information, and judgment to make the final investment decision. Senior Portfolio Managers are frequently making complex, non-routine investment decisions. These decisions are presented to and discussed with other team members, including senior leadership, with the Senior Portfolio Manager having ultimate responsibility for the outcome. Senior Portfolio Managers also help mentor other associates on team and ensure investment analysis performed by other Portfolio Managers or Analysts is conducted properly.
