We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to support our accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial records and contributing to the overall success of our Finance team. This position is located at our Emeryville, California headquarters. Key Responsibilities: Execute month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for various accounts, such as cash, investments, prepaids, AP, leases, and accruals. Manage the expense reporting system and process. Process weekly check runs and support the procure-to-pay process. Assist with special projects and system implementations, driving continuous improvement in our financial processes. Develop, expand, and refine existing internal control processes to ensure compliance and efficiency. Assist in external audits, including gathering audit requests and responding to inquiries from the audit team. Qualifications: An undergraduate degree in accounting, CPA strongly preferred. At least three years of relevant industry accounting experience, public company and/or public accounting experience is preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel, NetSuite, and Coupa. Demonstrated expertise in financial management and accounting principles. Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide innovative solutions that drive efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes. Highly collaborative and solutions-oriented, thriving in a fast-moving startup environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and champion ideas and solutions. Ability to think creatively and drive innovative solutions in accounting and financial processes, aligning with Metagenomi’s commitment to innovation. Dedication to maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting, reflecting the scientific rigor valued by Metagenomi. Strong ability to work collaboratively within the Finance team and across departments, championing each other’s success and fostering a supportive work environment. This position is classified as an exempt salaried position under the Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $110,500 to $140,000. In addition to the base salary, you will be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
