Litigation Associate

We are an entrepreneurial business litigation firm that is on track for aggressive growth and we need an experienced litigation associate with at least 3 years of litigation experience to join our team and work directly with the owners and attorneys to support the team and help our clients.
We want to be known for helping our corporate and individual clients in the defense of litigation. We are growing fast, and we need a litigation associate who can hit the ground running.
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare a cover letter with no more than TWO paragraphs and a closing sentence. In the first paragraph explain what you believe are the 3 most important qualities needed in someone who works with family law clients and why you believe they are the most important qualities. In the second paragraph, explain why you applied to this particular ad. As a closing sentence please write, "I have read the instructions contained in the job posting and have followed the instructions."

Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for important work, including:
•Handle your own cases, from start to finish
•Attend simple and complex hearings and making argument on relevant issues
•Take and defend depositions, including party and expert depositions
•Attend mediation and engage in settlement discussions with opposing counsel and clients
•Regularly communicate with clients for updates and strategy
•Attend jury and non-jury trials

•You are detail-oriented
•You are very good at legal research (we use Westlaw)
•You are caring, and care about our clients and their cases
•You are a self-starter
•You are creative and good at determining the relevant issues
•You are not looking for the easiest way out of litigation
•Work well with others and be a great member of the team
We love to help people learn and grow. But we don't have the time for that right now. We need a litigation association with experience in civil litigation, including but not limited to personal injury, commercial litigation, and landlord-tenant litigation. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand-holding.
This is a full-time job where you are expected to manage a caseload, so you absolutely must be able to work a full time attorney schedule. Based on your experience, we will offer a compensation package of base pay and variable pay range of $100,000 to $150,000, depending on years and quality of experience. Also, there are opportunities for bonus compensation for those who can demonstrate their profitability.
Qualifications
•3+ years of experience in litigation practice
•Admission to the Bar in Florida
•Strong research and writing skills
•Familiarity with legal research databases
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills
