The Iowa State Daily Media Group is looking for a high-performing advertising director ready to lead our student and professional staff in revenue generation, creative and innovative project execution, and cohesive B2C strategies. This position pays $40,000 base pay, plus commission with no cap.

What is the Iowa State Daily Media Group?

We’re a student-run, professionally managed media company committed to providing excellent experiential learning opportunities for students at Iowa State University.

We’re made up of two student-run media companies:

· The Iowa State Daily (the Iowa State University campus newspaper, est. 1890)

· Model Farm (a creative services agency est. 2015)

Where You Come In

Our business, while closely tied to the University, is independent from it. That means our operating budget – everything from salaries to print costs to camera equipment – is paid for with the money our team brings in on a daily basis.

We’re looking for a top salesperson to drive this revenue within the Iowa State Daily’s suite of products. You’ll be personally responsible for managing our student sales staff to drive this revenue within the print paper, magazines, inserts, special events on campus, and driving digital transformation of our products.

Qualifications

· Four-year undergraduate degree in business, advertising, or related field

· Minimum five years advertising, including managing a team of sellers beneath you

· Thorough understanding of print advertising, digital sales, and the college media or daily newspaper environment

· Comprehension of marketing and event planning

· Must live in Ames or immediate surrounding area. Not a commuting position.

Primary Responsibilities

· Directing the ISD advertising department

· Supervising all sales, including student staff

· Improving the quality of advertising in ISD products, including researching and helping to implement alternative revenue
