Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for leading and managing the supplier development engineering team. This role focuses on developing, qualifying, and continuously improving the performance and capabilities of suppliers to ensure they meet the company's quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The director will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to foster strong relationships and drive strategic initiatives that enhance the supply chain's efficiency and effectiveness.

Product Performance

  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs for suppliers, and monitor their performance regularly.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to address performance issues.
Documentation
  • Maintain consistent documentation between Supplier and Onto to ensure that or products are built to our specifications and standards.
Roadmap
  • Develop Supplier Roadmaps which include but is not limited to cost efficiencies, Product transfers, Capabilities, and Process Improvement.
Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and partnership.
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs for suppliers, and monitor their performance regularly.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to address performance issues.
Product Transitions
  • Lead the qualification process for new product transfers, ensuring they meet the company's standards and requirements.
  • Define FAI requirements for new product transfers


Qualifications

A BS in Engineering or related technical (or equivalent knowledge) and 10+ years directly related experience.
5+ years' experience in a leadership role
Solid understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) process
Experience with Lean Process improvements.
Lean Black belt Desirable.
Experience with DFx as it intersects with Manufacturing processes & methods.
Leadership skills that are critical to success including vision, judgment, integrity and the ability to inspire others.

Optical and Optical Mechanical engineering experience a plus.
Strong sense of urgency, organization, and accountability
Experience with industry standard troubleshooting methods such as 8D
Self-motivated and self-starting disposition
Exceptional oral, interpersonal communication and presentation skills
