The University of NewMexico's Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion Lab is seekingenthusiastic and motivated high school and community college students to joinour team for a 2024 summer internship program. As an intern, you will have theopportunity to work alongside undergraduate, graduate students and postdoc inthe field, contributing to projects focused on the development and optimizationof electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices, such as batteries andCO2 electrolyzers.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conductingexperiments and performing laboratory procedures under the guidance of graduatestudents and postdoc.
- Participate in datacollection, analysis, and interpretation to support ongoing research projects.
- Contribute to thedesign and fabrication of electrochemical devices.
- Collaborate with teammembers to troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Maintain accuraterecords of experimental procedures, observations, and results.
- Present findings tolab members and participate in group discussions.

Conditions of Employment
- Must be age 16 or older at date of hire; must be in the care of a parent or guardian if under the age of 18.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Currently enrolled in high school or must have obtained high school diploma no greater than 24 months prior to hire date.
Preferred Qualifications

- Currently enrolled ina local high school or dual credit program (rising juniors, seniors, orrecent high school graduates preferred).
- Strong interest inscience, particularly in the fields of chemistry, physics, materials science,or engineering.
- Basic understanding oflaboratory safety protocols and procedures.
- Excellentcommunication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn andwillingness to take on new challenges.
