Reporting to the Director, Talent Acquisition & Candidate Experience at The North West Company (NWC), your role as Recruitment Specialist will be responsible to successfully execute ACC’s recruitment strategies. You will identify, source, and attract high-performing talent and passive job seekers to join the ACC banner. You will support the achievement of business strategies with a consistent, positive customer experience.

Your Role:

Execute and provide input into the recruitment and selection processes, systems and tools to efficiently source, assess, select and integrate new hires. Support Recruitment and business partner accountabilities in executing standard processes and effectively managing the recruitment and candidate experience

Screen resumes, conduct interviews, recommend candidates for further consideration, and hire

Manage employment offers, pre-employment checks and support the onboarding process for candidates who are successful in the selection process

Participate in career fairs, liaise with external agencies where required, and support employee referral program

Stay abreast of recruitment best practices and share them with team members

Gather competitive industry information regarding salary, benefits, and employment practices. Report information to generate insight into the attractiveness of employee value propositions

Actively promote Alaska Commercial Company’s unique value proposition and affirm our position in the markets we serve

Provide guidance to management on talent acquisition strategy and process

Identify and implement innovative and proactive recruitment strategies to attract talent at all levels

Develop and maintain tracking and reporting tools

In partnership with the advisors, determine managements’ hiring needs and desired candidate competencies

Develop and maintain interview questions based on companywide and role specific competencies

Manage our Employment Brand and ensure its consistent application

Partner with community associations to execute recruitment strategies and support diversity hiring initiatives

Actively participate and contribute to the global North West Company recruitment teams and processes

Assist with other recruitment initiatives

Desired Skills & Experience:

An undergraduate degree, preferably in Business, Human Resources, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience

A minimum of 2 years experience in staff recruiting, ideally in a fast-paced, customer-driven, multi-unit business

Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems is an asset

Experience working in a third-party staffing agency is an asset

Basic understanding of and experience with recruitment sources, processes, systems, and tools, extensive interviewing and sourcing experience, along with a proven track record of achieving goals and targets

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Possess administrative and documentation skills and proficiency with reporting tools and databases

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with candidates, and business partners at all levels within the organization

Exhibit knowledge of hiring practices, behavioral-based interview techniques, tracking processes for applicants and open positions, and recruiting metrics

Networking skills with the ability to build talent pools and support the recruitment process; results oriented

Knowledge of company recruiting policies and procedures is considered an asset

Works well under pressure and time constraints

Must be able to travel as required
