The Kingsport Capital Warehouse Manager is responsible for the physical management of Equipment and Bulk Materials for capital projects in Kingsport, as well as other Eastman sites as required, which flow through the Capital Warehouse. The Capital Warehouse typically supports over one hundred projects at $250 Million to $350M Total Installed Cost every year, focused in Kingsport. The Capital Warehouse Manager coordinates the efforts of various contractor groups (Material Takeoff, Warehouse Operations, and Bulk Materials Procurement – approximately 20 FTEs in total).
Responsibilities
Manages the Capital Warehouse overall workflow
Leads and coordinates the ordering, expediting, receiving, processing, sorting, appropriately storing and maintaining, then issuing to the field at exactly the right time and at exactly the right place. This coordination spans the efforts of multiple contractors, including site Alliance engineering and construction contractors, occasional use engineering and construction contractors, and selected material providers.
Manages upkeep of and improvements to Capital Warehouse facilities and infrastructure.
Daily activities also comprise coordinating work orders, safe work permits, hot work permits, open flame permits, lock and tag permits, and electrical panel access permits.
Manages the overall inventories (both active and excess)
Coordinates the efforts to appropriately receive, store, protect, and kit / issue major tagged equipment for capital projects.
Coordinates the material take off, procurement / expediting, then the receiving, storing, protection, and kitting/issuance of bulk materials for capital projects, using advanced work packaging concepts.
Coordinates the accounting for all inventories in excess of those needed for projects, helping to disposition them either by utilization by other projects, transference to centralized maintenance stores, or external investment recovery functions.
Drives Improvements
Leads efforts to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement, or problems needing addressed.
Identifies methodologies, options, and resources needed to attach and solve.
Coordinates execution of these improvement programs and projects.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s degree (technical or business-related degrees required – applicable advanced degrees a plus)
Have at least 5 years of relevant experience in project related materials management functions, preferably in the Chemical industry, either working for an Owner or in the EPC arena.
Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.
Strong planning/project management skills, accountability, and follow through.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) from blue collar to executive audiences.
Strong problem-solving and data analytical skills (ability to evaluate situations with multiple complex dimensions simultaneously).
Embraces change, ambiguity, and complexity in the internal client base and external markets; utilizes these to generate value.
Proactively meets challenges head-on with a positive can-do approach and a demonstrated bias for action.
Experience engaging with outside vendors and suppliers is preferred.
