Job Summary As an Engineer II, the successful candidate will be responsible for equipment, process development, and sustaining activities for Infrared Detector packaging operations. This job requires developing, documenting, and maintaining processes for the assembly of cryogenic packages (Dewars) for IR detectors. The applicant must have knowledge in process development for assembly operations in at least several of the following areas: epoxy dispense, die attach, underfill, encapsulation, ovens, optical measurement equipment, and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings. Qualifications and Required Skills Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years applicable engineering experience. Supports and participates in technical activity Designs, develops, analyzes, documents, and supports testing of products, systems, or subsystems May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments Ability to work independently under minimal supervision Provides regular reporting of progress and status Responsible for completion of assigned tasks on time and meeting technical requirements Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable Specifies and evaluates supplier components, subsystems, and services Supports the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements Develops prototypes to retire key development risks as directed Communicates clearly with other company personnel and customers as required Experience with vacuum principles Able to work in Class 100 Clean Room Job Responsibilities Experience with packaging practices and processes Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress.
