Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight:
  • Supervise and manage all on-site mechanical construction activities, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
  • Ensure that all work complies with design specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring that milestones are met.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Direct and supervise the activities of foremen, laborers, and subcontractors, providing clear instructions and expectations.
  • Conduct regular site meetings to communicate project progress, address any issues, and ensure alignment among all team members.
  • Mentor and train site personnel, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Control:
  • Monitor the quality of workmanship and materials used in mechanical installations, ensuring that all work meets or exceeds industry standards.
  • Perform regular inspections and tests of mechanical systems to identify and resolve any issues early in the process.
  • Maintain detailed records of all inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Safety Management:
  • Enforce strict adherence to all safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel on site.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce the importance of safety practices.
  • Investigate and report any safety incidents, working with the safety team to implement corrective actions.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for mechanical-related issues on the construction site, coordinating with other trades, vendors, and clients.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that any changes in scope, schedule, or budget are communicated and managed effectively.
  • Maintain clear and open lines of communication with all stakeholders, ensuring that any potential issues are addressed promptly.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, including site activities, manpower, equipment, and material deliveries.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting any risks, challenges, or delays.
  • Ensure that all project documentation, including drawings, permits, and inspection reports, is up to date and readily accessible.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in mechanical construction, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale mechanical projects, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, construction methods, and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on proactive issue resolution.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Certifications:
  • OSHA 30 certification is required. Additional certifications, such as LEED accreditation or PMP, are a plus.
