We are looking for an Accounting Manager focused on building relationships through amazing service and communication skills. Must have a passion for creating a top-notch employee experience for the accounting staff. The key to this position is a strong working relationship with all team members of First State Insurance Agency.

Responsibilities in Accordance with Our Corporate Values

The Accounting Manager will oversee the operations of the accounting department, manage accounting staff, and ensure that all financial processes are efficient and effective. Verify the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and reports.

Professionalism

  • Oversees the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
  • Provide support to RVP's and Executive Management by investigating budget or financial questions
  • Complete/Oversee accounting related Ad Hoc projects or report requests
  • Ensures compliance with accounting principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Accountability
  • Review monthly Board Reports in preparation for Board Meeting
  • Manage and mentor accounting staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating team members
  • Coordinating and leading the month-end and year-end close process
  • Collaborate with external auditors and FSCB accounting department to facilitate audits and ensure adherence to audit requirements
Initiative
  • Implement and monitor budget process and prepare final budget for each FSIA business unit
  • Optimize accounting procedures and implement new accounting systems or technologies to improve efficiency
  • Handle complex financial transactions and oversee accounts payable and receivable
Adaptability
  • Attend monthly board meetings and review financial reports with FSIA Board.
  • Any other meetings directed by management.
  • Attend continuing education to stay up to date on financial regulations/requirements and maintain any certifications.

Qualifications
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization

  • Demonstrates ability to lead others
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in accounting/finance
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel
  • CMA or CPA Certification a plus
