Description Under the supervision of the Manager of Integrated Behavioral Health Services, the Low-Barrier Triage BH Clinician provides direct, low-threshold BH services to clients of Fenway Health’s clinical sites and public health programs. The Low-Barrier Triage BH Clinician provides walk-in clinic coverage, low-threshold counseling sessions, and triage appointments to clients for whom either traditional individual and group therapy is not beneficial or well tolerated, and timely access to triage appointments to those looking for traditional outpatient therapy services. Walk-in coverage is also provided to meet the needs of clients accessing public health programs for HIV/HCV/STD testing (such as clients testing positive who would benefit from talking to a mental health professional) and those for whom mental health or substance use issues contribute to high-risk behavior. This position also contributes to Fenway Health’s quality and Accountable Care Organization performance initiatives. Representative Duties: Provides direct services to clients Provides clients with easily accessible and low-threshold BH services, assisting clients with accessing behavioral health services on a scheduled, walk-in, triage, and as-needed basis Provides clients with intake or triage evaluations, short and longer term therapy, using established therapeutic processes Provides group therapy and crisis intervention, using established therapeutic processes, as necessary to demand Works with and supports clients in employing a range of risk reduction and behavior change strategies. Develops/maintains collaboration with a wide-range of behavioral health and substance use resources and treatment options within the Greater Boston area to refer and link clients (including third party reimbursable and longer term, traditional BH treatment, as applicable). Provides linkage to culturally competent resources and treatment for those who are experiencing homelessness, active substance users, recent immigrants, people of color, and/or people who identify as part of the LGBTQ community Provides on-call/crisis coverage as required and according to department standards Adheres to NASW Code of Ethics Offers daily walk-in clinic hours Responds to requests from public health program staff for routine and crisis interventions and warm handoffs Handles periods of multiple, simultaneous requests for client care Provides support to paraprofessional staff around interactions with clients, modelling appropriate boundaries and approaches to client care Performs and completes clinical documentation/administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner Documents each client interaction Completes treatment plans, treatment plan updates, session notes, assessments, and discharge summaries according to department standards and in accordance with Fenway policy Attends to the requirements for obtaining and tracking insurance authorization for treatment where applicable Provides consultation to, and collaborates with, other care providers that constitute a client’s health care or public health team Participates in regularly scheduled supervision Coordinates data tracking of utilization Meets Agency Participatory Expectation Participates in staff meetings, in-services and continuing education activities of the Fenway Health Behavioral Health Department Maintains expected productivity Adheres to all agency and department policies and procedures Adheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality Attends and actively participates in department and agency meetings, in-services and trainings Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintain and provide agency with credentials and continuing education activities as required Performs other duties as related Requirements Massachusetts LICSW or other equivalent independent licensure Commitment to reducing barriers to mental health services with such approaches as providing drop in hours, offering clinical support to those who struggle with consistency and using clinical interventions which match a client’s stage of readiness for change Capacity to work independently and as part of interdisciplinary team Demonstrated skills set with high quality diagnostic evaluations resulting in efficient clinical summaries presented in written documentation and collaborative case presentations Ability to maintain up to date case records Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be an effective team member Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multitask Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients and vendors across the spectrum of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional and developmental), veteran status, and/or limited English proficiency.
