Identifies and implements improved reporting systems and provides theoretical accounting expertise. Coordinates, consolidates and analyzes financial data and works on special projects under the direction of Management. Provides consultation, leadership, and direction in Financial Reporting in the areas of financial analysis, financial reporting, and systems used by Financial Reporting, including Hyperion Financial Management and Lucernex. Serves as a key consultative resource, develops, establishes and manages relationships with the Health Ministries, VPs, SVPs, other executive leaders, key stakeholders, and decision makers. Applies complex decision-making strategies and considerable consulting knowledge and experience in order to plan, coordinate and collaborate with the activities of others, as well as integrate activities that are relatively homogenous or diverse in nature.POSITION PURPOSE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Trinity Health in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Serves as a primary financial consultant and liaison between System Office Shared Service centers as assigned, Accounting and the department for all financial reporting needs. Acts as a financial consultant and liaison between System Office finance and Health Ministry organizations for monthly financial reporting, technical accounting expertise, budget consolidation, and various administrative initiatives.

Oversees Financial Reporting Senior analyst performance of month end close duties and performs monthly including intercompany transactions, posting journal entries, review of reports, development of slide presentations. Works as a liaison between system office accounting and the Health Ministries to identify any differences surrounding intercompany transactions and reconcile accordingly. Develops and documents intercompany policies and procedures including training documentation for the Health Ministries and System Office Shared Services. Reviews and approves journal entries posted by senior analysts.

Drafts quarterly reports such as quarterly financial statements and community benefit ministry reporting, including footnote disclosure and preparation of the MD&A, quarterly and annual debt covenant calculations, etc.

Oversees and assists with reviewing financial and statistical data for accuracy on a monthly basis. Runs financial reports from the financial consolidation software and distributes to executive management within System Office and the Health Ministries monthly.

Provides guidance and written summaries to senior management and governance relative to alternative accounting treatments under accounting principles generally accepted in the United States and identifies how potential and actual changes in accounting theories will affect financial reporting for Trinity Health and its Health Ministry Organizations. Works closely with Health Ministry CFOs and their staffs in the development of financial reporting policies, procedures and activities. Develops white papers to document technical accounting matters including review and documentation of new pronouncements under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Develops training materials on a variety of topics for the Health Ministries and System Office Shared Services and presents materials on Controller's call and/or training webinars. Topics may include technical GAAP pronouncements, Trinity Health new or revised procedures, federal financial awards, philanthropy, current topics in the health care industry, etc.

Proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes related to the financial reporting needs of the organization with the objective of increasing the value of System Office Finance activities for the System Office and Health Ministry colleagues.

Assists with the Single Audit (A-133) federal financial awards audit. Works with external auditors, monitors timing and issues during audit, prepares consolidated financial statements and is responsible for filing the data collection form with the Office of Management and Budget. Responsible for understanding and staying current on federal award reporting requirements. Assists Health Ministries with reporting federal financial awards accurately and timely in accordance with Federal Circular Single Audit (A-133) requirements.

Evaluates operating performance of Health Ministries, reviews various reports to analyze variances, and works with Health Ministries to understand variances and takes action to correct errors prior to providing written summaries for senior management and governance.

Collaborates with System Office financial systems application administrators to provide financial expertise related to the ongoing maintenance, upgrades and implementations of finance applications.

Provides expert level consultation, analysis, coordination and assistance with project management tasks for special projects as directed by management, including system related maintenance needs related to software implementations, mergers, divestitures, and joint ventures. Responsible for keeping assigned tasks on track with the project plan and prioritizing tasks in order to meet deadlines. This person is also responsible for managing risks and confirming that key stakeholders are kept informed about the progress and expected outcomes of the project.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

CPA certification is required. Must have a thorough understanding of financial management as normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively more responsible finance and/or accounting experience. Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.

Proficient knowledge and understanding of financial management and reporting applications and supported financial systems and processes. Experience with Oracle financial software highly preferred (PeopleSoft general ledger, Hyperion Financial Management, Essbase, Financial Data Quality Management, Data Relationship Manager).

Must possess deep analytical, quantitative, evaluative and problem-solving skills and proficiency with Microsoft product suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Visio).

Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Strong knowledge of technical accounting theory, US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting. Familiarity with healthcare finance terminology and concepts preferred.

Ability to work under pressure and complete multiple assignments in a time constrained environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to facilitate communications between diverse groups. Ability to effectively identify, assess and facilitate improvements and solutions and present advisory and persuasive recommendations.

Ability to develop appropriate methodologies for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data. Strong personal computer skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrently running mid-size to large projects having a system-wide scope of responsibility and impact.

Ability to influence results, garner support and tactfully manage and maintain complex relationships with leaders, stakeholders and decision makers. Ability to read the subtle nuances of situations and react/plan accordingly.

Excellent project leadership, organization, integration and execution skills and abilities. Extensive experience in planning, formulating and executing strategies, as well as the ability to define program, process or business objectives and scope. Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in identifying, evaluating and articulating operational opportunities, business needs and gaps.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision of daily tasks.

Must be comfortable in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Must have a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring as well as the ability to inspire and to motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates both remotely and an office environment. Travel is minimal. The incumbent must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities.

Hourly Pay Range: $46.31 - $69.46
