Senior Electrical Analytical Engineer

Location: Monrovia, CA
Type: Contract

Overview

You will provide electrical engineering services to our client and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the electrical engineering team. Your role will involve managing a team of electrical engineers and designers, overseeing their work on oil, gas, and chemical projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of electrical engineers and designers, overseeing their work on oil, gas, and chemical projects.
  • Plan, organize, and direct engineering work, ensuring on-time completion, safety-in-design, and quality outcomes from conception to completion.
  • Collaborate with project management, clients, and other disciplines to meet project objectives.
  • Lead one or more projects while providing guidance for other lead engineers within the program.
  • Maintain relationships with project management and clients to ensure satisfaction with the quality and progress of the project.
  • Communicate effectively (written, emails, verbal) with the team and management, possessing strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivate, create a positive work environment, and help the team learn, grow, and work together to achieve common goals.
  • Deliver electrical engineering services that meet our client's, customers', and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Initiate, manage, and, if required, supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
  • Perform electrical engineering services such as:
    • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures.
    • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
    • Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations, and write purchase orders.
  • Act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects, if required.
  • If responsible for a team:
    • Outline project requirements, actively promote workshare where appropriate, assign tasks, and supervise progress.
    • Ensure the required services meet our client's, customers', and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
  • Proactively resolve any discrepancies between our client and its customers' requirements.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
  • Assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team, if required.
  • Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
Qualifications:
  • A recognized and relevant BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng) status in the US/Canada.
  • Excellent technical and practical engineering skills with the ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work to our client and its clients.
  • Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of electrical engineering and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as the MS Office Suite and electrical engineering-specific software (ETAP, PSCAD, SPL).
  • Experience in the development and design of electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection, power management system configuration, and interface management.
  • Perform/review power systems studies and protective device settings.
  • Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry, including experience working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
