Role and Responsibilities:

The Operations Supervisor & Cook at Lasalle Market & Deli and Lasalle Only Sweeter will manage the overall operations and the kitchen environment across both establishments. As a dynamic leader, you will drive operational excellence, manage financial performance, and lead a dedicated team to deliver exceptional customer service. With a focus on fostering a positive work environment, implementing strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, this role significantly contributes to the reputation of both Lasalle Market & Deli and Lasalle Only Sweeter as premier destinations for exceptional offerings and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide effective leadership to the entire staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members, ensuring high performance and job satisfaction.
  • Set clear expectations and goals, regularly communicating with and motivating the team.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize workflow and maintain consistent food quality.
  • Monitor inventory levels, manage supply chains, and collaborate with vendors to maintain quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Fill in for line staff as needed to ensure daily operational needs are met.
  • Assist in developing and managing budgets, forecasting and analyzing financial performance. Implement strategies to maximize revenue, control costs, and enhance profitability.
  • Conduct regular financial reporting and analysis to make informed decisions.
  • Coordinate and manage food preparation and cooking activities, maintaining optimal stock levels and minimizing waste for both Lasalle Market & Deli and Lasalle Only Sweeter.
  • Uphold and enhance Lasalle Market & Deli's and Lasalle Only Sweeter reputation for exceptional customer service. Implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Address customer feedback and concerns with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop and execute effective promotional campaigns.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and local market conditions to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering skill development and maintaining a high level of competence.
  • Ensure the team follows company policies, safety regulations, and health standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, company policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with other areas, including front-of-house staff, to ensure seamless operations and exceptional customer experiences.
  • Foster open communication within the team, addressing concerns and promoting a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and other legal requirements.
  • Implement and enforce company policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and/or culinary training and food safety standards

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs
  • Proven experience in a managerial role, preferably in the food service or retail industry. This could include experience as a supervisor, team leader, or assistant manager.
  • Proven experience in kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking, is highly desirable. Understanding kitchen workflow, equipment usage, and food safety standards is important for overseeing kitchen activities.
  • Sound financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Experience optimizing revenue, controlling costs, and enhancing overall profitability.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive customer experience. Ability to address customer feedback and implement improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative work environment and build positive relationships with both customers and team members.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Attention to detail to ensure operational and service excellence.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and other legal requirements. Ability to ensure compliance and enforce company policies for a safe and healthy work environment.
