SUMMARY OF JOB:

UP TO $6000 SIGN ON BONUS

The MFM Nurse Navigator participates in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating health services provided by the Maternal Fetal Medicine department. Functions as a coordinator and provider of nursing care in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department to the obstetric woman and her fetus, who has a known or suspected at-risk pregnancy. In addition, acts as a resource for patients and their families confronting a known or suspected at risk-pregnancy. In collaboration with the perinatologists and the obstetricians, the MFM Nurse Navigator uses assessment, planning and intervention skills to evaluate the patients clinical condition, including the use of patient history, diagnostic test results and symptomology during pregnancy. Communicates, as appropriate, with the patients, obstetric and maternal-fetal medicine care providers, obstetric office staff, perinatal sonographers, genetic counselors, and labor and delivery staff, changes in a patients clinical condition and testing results. The MFM Nurse Navigator serves as a liaison, educator and patient advocate, and functions within individual patient needs, physician orders, Holy Redeemer Health System policy and procedures, and the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act.

RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • BSN upon hire
  • Registered licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • BLS certification required
  • Previous LDR or Antenatal experience required
  • Fetal monitor certification preferred (required within 1 year of hire)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective public speaking and presentation skills, and listening skills
  • Proficiency in personal computer programs including word processing and data management programs preferred
  • Satisfactory completion of orientation and competency validation within probationary period
  • Demonstrated ability to establish meaningful goals and action plans, and facilitate action to accomplish goals.
  • Proven judgment, analytical skills, professional practice and clinical competency to implement age appropriate patient care to manage critical situations in a timely, safe manner
  • Proven competency in all interventions when administering physical and psychological care to patients
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and health care disciplines in achieving excellence in patient care
  • Excellent leadership skills to effectively direct other nursing personnel and coordinate patient care as required by the Nurse Practice Act and department and hospital standards.
  • Membership in Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine or similar professional organization preferred
  • Maintains professional certification in obstetrics/EFM.
