Health Program Specialist I

Our client with the State of Nevada is looking for a Health Program Specialist I. An RN license is required for this position--this is non-negotiable. Health Program Specialists plan, develop, implement and evaluate health services and activities; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; provide technical information regarding specialized health related conditions; and participate and provide support to various committees, advisory boards, and other work groups. Candidates must possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Responsibilities Provider Quality Assurance and Provider Education Develop, enhance and monitor Immunization Program quality assurance projects statewide. enhance and monitor Immunization Program quality assurance projects statewide. Overseeprovider VFC/IQJP quality improvement processes and compliance site visits, including those conducted at the Local Healthlevel. Ensure grant requirements regarding VFC Compliance Site Visits and IQIP QA Visits are achieved. Conduct required provider education during VFC Compliance Site Visits as required by the most current CDC VFC Guide. Ensureenrolled VFC provider staff complete the required annual VFC training. Conduct presentations and other public speaking engagements for providers, LHD staff and other immunization stakeholders as appropriate for the position and as requested by supervisor. VFC Unit Oversight and Management Develop and/or direct development of VFC program plan, goals, objectives, forms, reports, etc. Ensure proper VFC provider coverage across the state. Develop, assist, or direct completion of CDC grant development and reporting related to the VFC program. Monitor and ensure Nevada VFC program compliance in accordance with the CDC VFC. Community Leadership and Clinical Expertise Engage with immunization stakeholders statewide and provide leadership as a State Immunization Program representative. Serve as the subject matter expert to answer clinical immunization questions from providers, the public, schools, partners, staff, and DPBH administration. Supervision/Management Ensures WPS are developed and maintained for all subordinate staff within 30 days of any assignment change. Prepares EmployeeDevelopment reports based on NAG mandated deadlines. Directs and monitors the daily activities and training of VFC staff. Provides program and project supervision to ensure compliance with all state mandates and deadlines Identifies employee deficiencies and takes immediate and appropriate action to correct emerging issues; issues disciplinary action when appropriate. Participates in all state mandated trainings for supervisory staff. Assures VFC staff is kept informed of agency and state policies and procedures. Promotes teamwork and employee morale. Ensures subordinate supervisors are held to these same supervisory standards. Other Duties as Assigned Special projects may be assigned by the Health Program Manager 2, in addition to the standards listed herein; projects may requirelearning new skills and materials. Special projects must be completed within a pre-negotiated timeframe. Additional Requirements As previously mentioned:An RN license is required for this position. Maintains professional and harmonious relations with clients, community and agency partners, division staff and the public. Additionally, professional conduct includes availability and response during public health incidents/emergencies. HIPPA and Safety Protects health related information in accordance with federal, state, Department and Division regulations and policies. Useand disclose protected health information in accordance with established policy and procedure. Immediately report anypotential HIPAA violations. Follow all safety rules. Immediately report injuries to HR and supervisor. Report potential safety hazards to the building liaison. Cooperate fully with the office safety committee to ensure overall safety in the workplace.
