Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Automation Engineer job near Whitehall, MI for our client, a growing manufacturer of quality products. This position will be located in the regional office and support projects for all of the client’s manufacturing plants in the US and abroad. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing and programming new manufacturing technology, supporting current technology in use at various company plants, and assisting other Automation Engineers in current projects. The Automation Engineer will work with design teams, plant automation technicians, plant engineers, and vendors as needed. This position will follow through the build phase and implementation of equipment into production. Our client offers a comprehensive benefits package and a salary based on experience of $70,000 for recent engineering graduates and higher for more experienced candidates. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities for the Automation Engineer Job near Whitehall, MI include: Development, implementation, testing and programming of new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation including robotics. Provide support and development of automation technicians across multiple company plants remotely and occassionally in person. Support engineering and manufacturing teams to improve existing processes. Coordinate robotic service projects and plant visits. Will have oversight of Software Control. Develop troubleshooting and system guides for plant technicians. Establishing PM’s and critical spare parts for automation machinery/robotics.

Qualifications BS Degree in the following Engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Robotic, Industrial/Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution. Able to travel as needed to various plant domestic/overseas when projects are scheduled. (aproximately 20-30% but there may be months of NOT travelling in between) This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Preferred experience: Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment. 1-3 years’ experience working with controls/programming robotics. Experience in 6 axis articulating arm robotics is a plus. Proficiency at robot programming, I/O management, and troubleshooting robotic systems logic is a plus Experience trouble-shooting robotic mechanical and electrical systems including pneumatics, sensors, tooling, measurement feedback systems, and basic design robustness is a plus Proficient in off-line programming environments. Basic understanding of controls and servo systems. Basic understanding of tooling and fixture design. Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Experience with HMIs Experience in reading mechanical and electrical prints. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Familiar with RIA Robotic Safety Standards.
