The Human Resources Intern will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of HR operations. Under the guidance of our HR team, the intern will assist with HR administration, compliance initiatives, recruitment activities, benefits programs, employee engagement, and other HR projects. This role offers exposure to a fast-paced and collaborative work environment, providing an excellent learning opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors the Human Resources email Inbox and distributes messages to the appropriate Human Resources team member.
  • Responsible for shipping new hire welcome boxes, ordering flowers or other gifts for employee life events such as births or illnesses, and shipping memory boxes for employee bereavement.
  • Distributes regular Human Resources communications such as Welcome Wednesday and monthly birthday & anniversary emails. May assist with preparation of other non-regular communications and distribute them.
  • Participates in employee engagement activity planning as part of the S.T.A.R. committee.
  • When needed, creates/maintains forms, announcements, or other resources needed for company’s processes and procedures.
  • Maintains calendar for Human Resources Initiatives such as open enrollment, performance management timeline, updates the Bright Connect Human Resources pages, and updates the accountability chart.
  • Processes employee transactions in ADP after gathering necessary documentation to support the changes.
  • Special projects support such as job description project, employee files scanning project, labor law poster audit, Human Resources share drive clean-up, Workers Compensation project, etc.
  • May assist with tasks related to the Leave of Absence process (LOA) such as sending paperwork, entering LOA’s in ADP, and following up with employees to obtain completed paperwork.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management or a current college senior studying toward a degree in Human Resources Management or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources demonstrated through coursework, previous internship experience, or relevant Human Resources-related activities.
  • Proven experience working in an office environment is a plus.

 SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office. Comfortable learning new computer programs.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proven experience as a self-starter who can find things to do when assigned projects/job duties are complete.
  • Ability to work independently and to show initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a knack for accuracy and organization. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.

 WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position is a hybrid role requiring 1-2 days per week in the corporate office with flexibility for more depending on circumstances.
