Senior Credit Regional Manager, Fostoria, OH
Assists the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) with the overall responsibility for the association's credit administration, credit analysis, and approval function. Responsible for overall management of Special Accounts Management (SAM) and being a liaison and supervisor between admin and assigned Regions on lending matters and operational issues. Provides additional lending support in the form of direct contact with distressed borrowers, Regional Managers, Credit Analysts, and Lending Teams as needed. Responsible for internal customer satisfaction and proper alignment of resources and needs. Fosters a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, and the association core values, encourages individual integrity, and fulfills social responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Credit Risk Management:
- Through regular interactions with Regional Managers, Credit Analysts, and Lending Teams, assess overall credit performance, especially as it relates to credit risk and effective credit administration.
- Track compliance with policies, procedures and laws/regulations.
- Report risk assessment to CCO, Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and other appropriate audiences.
- Act as an additional resource to provide strategic consulting and guidance to Regional Managers, Lending Teams, and Credit Analysts relative to the development of proper credit administration, business strategies and operational functions.
- Works with CCO to develop and recommend policies and procedures and identifies risk in the portfolio.
- Accountable for measuring, administering, and reporting risk in the lending portfolio for loans identified as distressed loans.
- Works directly with Distressed borrowers as needed.
- Ensures Association sub-standard assets are managed appropriately including working with the Lending Teams, CCO and General Counsel to assure the timely resolution and maximum recovery of such assets.
- Reviews the Association past due report and prepares and submits the FSA default status reports for the Association.
- Prepares Specific Reserve calculations and recommends allowances.
- Reviews credit packages for presentation to Loan Committee and identifies and monitors implementation of loan requirements and action plans to minimize risk and maximize safety and soundness.
- Assures that all distressed loans are properly reviewed and identified and provided borrowers rights in a timely manner if applicable.
- Ensures timely (i) review of and response to all Applications for Restructuring and Loss Mitigation requests, (ii) documentation and implementation of approved applications, and (iii) foreclosure or other liquidation of collateral for applications not approved.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to analyze and administer complex loans.
- Stays abreast of market conditions and trends.
- Prepares and provides information for Board reports, reviews/proposes revisions to existing credit policies and procedures, develops/proposes new credit policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with policy/procedure and laws/regulations through ongoing coaching and training.
- Serves as a resource to the assigned Regions in business development and loan portfolio management (loan underwriting, managing risk concentrations, collateral risk management and stress testing). Ensures loans offered for approval are appropriately considered and acted upon in a timely manner. Facilitates the resolution of issues related to association underwriting.
- Demonstrates an understanding of systems and services offered by the association and their applicability to the needs of the credit department.
- Works closely with operations on SAM accounts to verify loan balances, application of payments, transfers, charge-offs, etc.
- Ensures association-initiated project requests are appropriately addressed with their team and reports on project status, as appropriate, to the CCO or ELT.
- Through regular communications, supervises the Regional Managers and assigned Regions Lending Managers, to promote achievement of Association business initiatives/goals/objectives. Authorized to address performance issues in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Ensures supervisory practices promote fair treatment of all employees/applicants, are free from discrimination, follow the EEO policy and are supporting AgCredit, ACA's Affirmative Action Plan.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Agricultural field.
- Minimum of 10 years of lending experience, including some experience with special assets
- Minimum of 5 years in middle management is preferred.
- Current awareness of economic developments and production technology affecting agriculture in the region.
- Farm Credit experience or equivalent agricultural lending experience.
- In-depth knowledge and skills required in loan administration, loan servicing and collateral valuation.
- Supervisory/management skills including organizing, planning, delegating, controlling, communicating (oral and written).
- High level of judgment and analytical ability.
- Knowledge of computer software programs.
- Ability to travel to offices, AgFirst Farm Credit Bank and other locations for training. Some overnight travel is expected.
