Job Description

Cetera Financial Group (CFG) is currently searching for a talented and passionate Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and will be a key player in the Cetera Advisor Networks Broker-Dealer accounting group. The position will be responsible for supporting various aspects of the monthly close and reporting of the financial results of the Broker-Dealer. The Senior Accountant will assist in implementing process improvements to help the team streamline and enhance efficiencies, promote the analysis and communication of results, and provide proactive customer service to business partners. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who collaborates well with team members.

What you will do:
  • Participate in the monthly closing process, including journal entries, financial statements, and related variance/account analysis.
  • Evaluate balance sheet schedules, prepare, and review balance sheet reconciliations, and address any reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting and audit deliverables for assigned broker-dealers and consolidated entities.
  • Assist with integration activities associated with mergers & acquisitions and assess the impact on accounting processes and associated controls.
  • Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures.
  • Continuously work to enhance the internal control framework and ensure timely execution of controls.
  • Support FP&A in requests and ad-hoc projects as needed.
  • Partner with other teams/departments on ad hoc requests as management determines.
What you need to have:
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or related fields with a solid understanding of GAAP.
  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant accounting experience.
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively across business functions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong technical, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Track record of taking the initiative to resolve issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Technology savvy with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience with Oracle and Blackline (or similar systems) preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting and broker-dealers preferred.
  • CPA license is a plus, but not required.
