Hours: Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm Job Title: Red Sage Cook Department: Food Services Reports to: Director of Food Services Classification: Hourly Position Overview: We aren't your typical hospital cafeteria. If want to make a difference in the lives of people then this is the position for you. As Red Sage Cook, you will assist in Customer meal preparation, helping where needed. You will have the opportunity to operate all kitchen equipment and perform other duties as assigned. Bringing smiles to our customers is what it's all about. This position will greet customers, take orders, cook breakfast and lunch items, and plate neatly. About the Team: As Food Service professionals, we feel that food and nutrition play an important part in wellness. Our goal is to provide customers with freshly prepared, appealing, and nourishing food. We are committed to offering patients, staff, and the community a product of quality and value in a safe and nurturing environment. Essential Functions * Ability to read tickets, cook on a flat top grill, use a fryer, and assemble food products in a timely manner. * Presentation and speed are important. * Prioritize tasks to be accomplished within the time allotted. Budget time efficiently * Analyze menu for food items that need advance preparation. Non-Essential Functions: * Serve on committees as needed. Required Skills: * Work cooperatively with Red Sage staff and other customers. * Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner. * Assume accountability for own actions. * Participate in departmental meetings. Learn and master all aspects of the position. Required Education, Licensure, Certifications, & Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Washington State Food Handler's Card within 30 days of hire. Physical Requirements: * Sitting: 5%. Standing/Walking: 95%. * Occasional lifting/carrying of dishes, cases of food and tubs weighing up to 30 pounds. * Frequent carrying of food, and supplies used in food preparation weight up to 30 pounds. * Occasional pushing/pulling of the tray cart and other carts weight up to 150 pounds. * Occasional climbing of stairs and using a step stool in the department. * Occasional stooping/kneeling/crouching to retrieve stock, food, and dishware from low shelves. * Frequent reaching/handling/fingering to perform all aspects of food preparation, count change, operate computer and answer the telephone. * Frequent talking/hearing/seeing to perform food preparation and cafeteria service. Environmental Conditions: * Occasional exposure to extreme cold temperature in the walk-in freezer/cooler. * Frequent exposure to wet conditions from handwashing, dishwashing, and food preparation. * Frequent exposure to noise from the dish machine. * Frequent exposure to injury due to equipment and knives. * Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic materials with the use of bleach and oven cleaner.
