Job Title: Sr Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of the design, analysis, and test/validation of mechanical products within an advanced avionics system. Your role will focus on developing electronics enclosures, vibration isolation systems, thermal management solutions, and environmental protection devices. You will collaborate closely with electrical engineers to design robust, high-performance printed circuit board assemblies. Additionally, you will perform preliminary sizing for static and dynamic loads as well as thermal environments, and utilize 3D modeling and 2D drafting packages to deliver detailed designs with considerations for production and testing processes.
About the Role:
- Own the design, analysis, and test/validation of mechanical products within the avionics system. Mechanical products include electronics enclosures, vibration isolation, thermal management, and environmental protection devices.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to design robust, high performance printed circuit board assemblies
- Perform preliminary sizing for static and dynamic loads and thermal environments.
- Utilize 3D modeling and 2D drafting packages to deliver detailed designs with considerations for production and test
- Validate designs for flight through rapid prototyping, analysis, and test campaigns
Hard Skills
+ 3+ years of experience in full cycle mechanical design engineering
+ Proficiency with Siemens NX/Teamcenter CAD package
+ Proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEMAP)
+ Experience in designing enclosures/packaging
Soft Skills
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Job Type
This is a contract position with a duration of 6 Months with the potential to go direct based on performance.
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Long Beach, California.
Work Environment
You will work in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional environment. Collaboration with the electrical engineering team is crucial to ensure that the enclosures are compatible with electrical components and to manage heat dissipation to prevent damage during launch scenarios.
