Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Materials Engineer with expertise in plastics recycling and production, to enhance our recycling operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in formulating our recycled plastics to produce new Post-Industrial Resins. The candidate will also be responsible for improving product quality, developing new processing methods, and managing the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control:
  • Oversee all laboratory processes and personnel ensuring that proper testing techniques are being routinely performed.
  • Ensure all Certificates of Analysis are in compliance with customer specifications.
  • Provide guidance that the laboratory equipment is state of the art.
  • Manage training of all Laboratory Technicians.
Process Optimization:
  • Design and develop new formulations for recycled plastics to ensure they meet customer specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Optimize existing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the sustainability of operations.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and sales to ensure smooth scale up of new products and processes.
Research and Development:
  • Lead projects to trial new materials, documenting findings and making recommendations based on experimental data.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in recycling technology to propose innovative solutions and equipment upgrades.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, quality control, and scheduling, to implement process improvements and troubleshoot issues.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to management and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field; a Master's degree is preferred.

- Minimum of 3 years' experience in materials engineering, preferably in plastics recycling industry.

- Strong understanding of polymer chemistry and the properties of various plastics.

- Experience with analytical and material characterization techniques.

- Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment and manage projects.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to think creatively.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
