What’s so interesting about this role?

Grindr just became a public company in 2022 and we are seeking a Director of Finance, Revenue & Insights to lead key financial strategy and reporting on revenue insights and performance and lead all revenue forecasting. The role requires a forward-looking thinker capable of operating at multiple levels, crafting detailed analysis to inform executive decision-making, and envisioning how new features and products can impact revenue as the team aims to accelerate.

This person will report to the VP of Finance and work closely with the FP&A, product monetization, and data insights teams. You are responsible for providing insights that can help us better understand our ongoing performance and propel the business forward and for building sophisticated and complex models to accurately forecast our revenue and related KPIs that help us make future revenue investment decisions. You will manage projecting long term growth, deliver accurate and timely revenue forecasts, help in the preparation of board materials, and design and maintain key performance revenue metrics reports.

What’s the job?

This is a unique role that offers high impact and broad exposure across the organization. In this role, you will be the primary finance owner supporting the monetization team.

Responsibilities will include:

Driving and owning regular revenue reporting, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making for executives and anticipate trends, challenges, and opportunities

Developing revenue financial targets and lead revenue planning working closely with the monetization team to align on revenue initiatives and growth targets.

Building and owning sophisticated and complex models for accurate monthly, quarterly, and multi year forecasting of revenue and KPI.

Leverage data and insights to assess problems and risks to revenue, and provide robust solutions and recommendations to solve them. Work with the data engineering, data insights, and product teams:

to analyze big data sets, interpret results, and present findings to management.

to analyze test results (i.e. pricing changes or new product introductions) and make recommendations to management team

Collaborate with accounting for process and reporting improvements and quarterly revenue forecasts. Cross-functional collaboration to truly understand the business and accurately forecast its growth.

Previous experience working in finance at a technology company in a revenue related role

8+ years of experience in a financial role, 4+ years in a strategic role

Past experience leading revenue analysis, forecasting and insights reporting, at a growth stage company

Preference for subscription-based revenue experience

Experience working on presentations for executive teams and boards

Communicates financials effectively across the organization

Experience conducting weekly, monthly and quarterly executive updates including both strategic and tactical topics

Capacity to anticipate trends, challenges and opportunities, and be a trusted partner to the product organization to make key product decisions

Keen eye for understanding of revenue trends, data analytics, and data insights. Experience working with big data sets, analyzing them and using them to build revenue models

Experience collaborating across multiple levels and departments in an organization

Deeply analytical and operationally excellent

Able to altitude shift from heads-down financial reporting to big picture ideation

Holds oneself to a high standard of output and quality

Future-oriented mindset, ability to make long-term hypotheses and drive growth through that

Superior proficiency in Excel (and SQL, preferred): you can build sophisticated models from scratch using advanced formulas/functions and dealing with large sets of data.

Role expectations, logistics

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver insights, recommendations, and results concisely and effectively to executive level management. Desire to think big and dive deep; strong attention to detail with big picture orientation preferred.

Strong time management skills, capable of project managing multiple priorities, and ability to manage competing priorities.

Based out of Bay Area (strong preference) or New York or open to relocation and excited to collaborate in-person
