Job Description Purpose Facilitates the timely purchase of supplies, services, and outside sub-contracting services for operations. Position is supportive to all areas of operations. Essential Job Functions Prepare and distribute bids to qualified vendors Effective communication and negotiation skills Purchase all services and supplies, including Factory Stores, through approved requisition and/or Factory Stores order report utilizing spot buy purchase orders and/or consignment and blanket purchase orders. Sub-Contracting services are negotiated, processed, and expedited in conjunction with operations requirements. Enter all Purchase Orders into system and maintain files with backup information Expedite and track orders as necessary Source and update vendors as required. Control and maintain vendor insurance certificates and hold harmless agreements. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements A minimum 5 years of purchasing experience within manufacturing organizations with a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement. Thorough knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices, excellent communication, and negotiation skills. Strong computer literacy with ability to manage multiple data bases, data entry skills and ability to search and pull-down data. Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems is desirable. Strong Excel/Microsoft Office skills. Good interpersonal skills. Attention for detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Good time management skills. Working Conditions Exposure to indoor manufacturing environment Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
