JMT is seeking a Structural / Bridge Engineer with 4+ years of relevant experience in analysis and design of new and rehabilitation structures, to join the bridge engineering team. As the successful new hire, you will have strong design skills, manage tasks and projects, mentor, and lead team members designing highway bridges; retaining walls; load rating, and other related structures. You will support a wide variety of structural transportation projects for state departments of transportation, county, municipal and private clients and will be offered the opportunity to work on related structures in other states as part of our interoffice work collaborative. This will allow you to enhance your project experience, knowledge and networking throughout the company. Position summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments. U.S. Residency Required. Please take a look at some of our exciting projects: *Port Access Road D/B: om/projects/port-access-road-design-build/ *I-26/ Volvo Interchange: om/projects/i-26-volvo-interchange/ *Cypress Gardens Road Bridge Emergency Replacement: om/projects/cypress-gardens-road-bridge-emergency-replacement/ Essential Functions and Responsibilities + Prepares/performs and checks structural analysis, design plans, specifications, and estimates for bridge projects while working collaboratively with multi-discipline design teams + Develops/prepares construction documents (drawings, specification, and cost estimate) + Maintains knowledge of state DOT and local agency design standards and criteria, practices, and policies + Performs structural analysis/design and may also lead/mentor team members through the design process + Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools + May perform structural inspections/field investigations (if needed) and develop related reports + Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality + Will develop the ability to serve in a lead technical role on bridge or structural design projects Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities + Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills + Proficient in discipline specific design software (i.e. LEAP Bridge Enterprise, LPile, MDX, CSiBridge, Merlin DASH, Bentley Microstation and /or OpenRoads/Bridge software) + Proficient in Microsoft Office + Written and oral communication skills Required Experience + Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program + 4-10 years’ experience in bridge design and analysis, including plan development + Engineer-in-training certification Preferred Experience + Professional Engineer License + Related bridge design experience Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
