Billing Specialist

Overview:
Bowhead seeks a Billing Specialist to join their growing team in Northern Virginia.
The billing specialist reports to the Billing Manager. Candidates may choose to work from either our Springfield or Dalghren offices. Although the position does not require prior billing experience, the successful candidate is likely to have previous exposure and experience in the government contracting realm. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidates prior experience level.
Responsibilities: Reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex government contract documentation.
Computing, validating, and submitting timely and accurate invoices to customers.
Ability to interact and communicate with internal and external customers.
Validating revenue calculations within the accounting system.
Tracking cash receipts, tracking daily collection status, and following up with customers on overdue invoices.
Analyzing and reconciling unbilled items in accounts receivable.
Other ad hoc projects such preparation of documentation for audits.
The successful candidates will have either (a) prior knowledge and experience in the government contracting realm or (b) an equivalent educational background. Willingness to learn billing processes and procedures is essential.
Although prior billing experience is not required, it is considered a plus and will be taken into account in establishing compensation.
Knowledge of government contract types, such as CPFF, T&M, FFP, and hybrid-type, and the respective invoicing requirements for each.
Exposure to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and requirements. Ability to research contract related regulations.
Knowledge and prior experience with Deltek Costpoint and WEB based invoicing systems, including Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) is preferred.
Proficiency in Excel with the ability to efficiently manage large amounts of data within spreadsheets.
Excellent communication skills, outstanding initiative, aggressive analytical, problem-solving, and task management skills; as well as effective interpersonal relationship skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and adjust quickly to emerging priorities on short notice.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
