Center for Energy and Environment - Senior Auditor/Trainer Location: St. Paul, Minnesota Job Description: The Home Energy Squad (HES) Senior Auditor/Trainer requires an experienced auditor/trainer with a proven track record of home assessment and product installation as outlined in the Home Energy Squad standard protocols. The Senior Auditor/Trainer must have the ability to continuously train, teach, and coach existing and new auditors according to HES program requirements. This is a full-time position that provides a wide range of benefits including Paid Time Off (PTO), medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, and a retirement plan. Background: CEE is a community-based clean energy nonprofit with offices in the North Loop of Minneapolis and St. Paul's Midway. We provide practical energy solutions for homes, businesses, and communities to cut energy waste and harmful emissions. Our workplace invites open door communications, respect for diverse backgrounds and points of view, and an emphasis on work-life balance. Responsibilities: Field Work (approximately 85%): Onboard, train, and shadow auditing staff in accordance with Home Energy Squad program requirements and expectations. Perform solo HES visits as a Senior Auditor as required by training needs. Install all HES products with quality and efficiency. Inspect insulation levels, perform blower door tests, IR image scans, and combustion safety diagnostics. Walk homeowners through the energy-saving process and direct them to appropriate rebate, financing, and incentive programs. Deliver insulation quotes as part of most visits and communicate with homeowners about the importance of insulation air sealing work. Review and send completed Energy Fitness Plans with customers while in their residence. Accurately enter all required information into program software. Perform Quality Assurance Inspections and train staff on conducting inspections. Ensure homeowner understanding and education needs are being met. Re-stock vans and manage daily inventory as required. Office/Administration (approximately 15%): Maintain excellent working knowledge of CEEtrack and relative software programs; act as a resource for other staff in this area. Work with Field Supervisors and Workforce Development staff to assess development of auditing staff and workforce trainees related to professional and soft skills. Coordinate with the field training team to ensure consistent application of standards and procedures across all HES employees while performing office training for WFD interns and internal trainees. Collaborate with the training team to create and continuously improve upon field training best practices through both field work and office training. Review auditor candidates with the field training team to select the best potential trainees. Keep the field training team updated on all assigned work and crew training status. Continuously monitor and teach auditing staff to ensure best practices are being adhered to in the field. Track quality and completeness of all audits performed in the field. Seek out and participate in training related to cultural competency, antiracism, teaching best practices, and building science technical skills. Organization Support: Assistance with other duties and tasks as assigned. Qualifications/Job Requirements: Two-year or technical degree or certificate or equivalent experience required. Effective communication and customer service skills, both in person and via phone. Ability to independently organize responsibilities and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to perform all residential energy audit crew member functions. Two+ years' experience performing energy audits required. Possess Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification or ability to work with CEE to obtain certification. Demonstrated ability to perform quality assurance on energy audits, including the creation of work orders. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate building science concepts and train others. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record in accordance with CEE's Fleet Safety Program. Be able to lift 40 pounds and work in tight spaces such as attics and crawl spaces. Be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions. Essential Functions: Ability to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Ability to routinely use building science diagnostic equipment such as blower doors, duct blasters, combustion analyzers, infrared cameras, and hand tools. Work will include occasional outstate travel including overnight stays. Primary working hours are within the Home Energy Squad Schedule, including nights or weekends depending on assignment.
