The Marine Superintendent will manage the day-to-day deck operations in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as government regulations and customer expectations. The Marine Superintendent will work in the Fleet Groups supporting the Technical Superintendents. These responsibilities include personal and operational safety and environmental protection. Duties & Responsibilities:

As the frontline management representative for the vessels assigned to them, the key responsibilities of the Marine Superintendent are as follows: Vessel Operations Promotes and maintains standardized deck operational efficiencies Provides cargo related technical expertise and guidance Develops and maintains fleet standards to maximize cargo loading Promotes safe and efficient operation of all operational functions on board assigned vessels Provides marine orientated guidance and action to Technical Superintendents and Vessel Captains Maintenance Oversees maintenance and repairs for deck and navigational equipment under fixed and variable accounts Maintains the safe and efficient operation of all deck and navigation related functions Assists with the arrangement and management of the work of shore side contractors as required Ensures vessel inspection and certification requirements are maintained to regulatory and classification standards Liaises with external authorities including flag, class and port state regulatory bodies Reviews the Shipboard Safety Management Committee meeting minutes Implements the organization’s QHSE programs including the internal Integrated Management System (IMS) and ISO audit program on the international fleet and provides input on the development and modifications of such programs Lead or be a team member in carrying out internal audits on any Company vessel Lead or be a team member of any investigation of any occurrence, accident or incident; including the management of appropriate documentation and timely closure of any findings/action items Stays current with and ensures continued compliance with all applicable legislation and applicable standards including ISO, OCIMF and RightShip Represents the Company in discussions with accreditation bodies and auditors, as well as relevant agencies Encourages all employees to show their commitment to QHSE in accordance with the standards and policies through day-to-day decision making and promotion of the Enforces an effective QHSE culture by maintaining a visible presence through regular site and vessel visits Budgetary Control Monitors and ensures compliance with fleet plan objectives People Management Develops fleet standards related to crew cost optimization Assists the Technical Superintendent on any day-to-day performance management and disciplinary issues Gives input to the Performance Appraisals for Captains, and reviews Performance Appraisals for all other navigation Officers. Assists with the identification of any training requirements required for personnel on board Provides input into vessel crewing and training requirements Reviews new cargo opportunities, providing cargo related technical expertise and guidance Liaison with Technical Services to ensure that any cargo related issues are addressed and that cargo maximization is realized Liaises with the Sales & Traffic department to identify customer service requirements Coordinates efforts with the Crewing Manager for the purposes of scheduling Captains and navigation officers and ensures assignments meet regulatory and company standards in terms of certification and experience Coordinates efforts with both the Logistics and Purchasing departments to ensure the required supplies/equipment is delivered to the ship in the most efficient way possible Handles requisitions sent in from the ship by either rejecting them or approving them to create purchase orders Participates as a member of Marine Emergency Response and the after-hours hotline Any other duties or requirements as assigned or directed Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

Post-secondary education in Maritime Studies, with a preference in Nautical Science Chief Mate certificate of competency as a minimum, Master Mariner preferred 7 or more years of combined shipboard and shore experience Self-Unloading vessel experience is an asset A proven track record of success in technical (navigation) and managerial positions with relevant maritime organizations Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint Effective communication skills (verbal and written) Excellent organization, planning and prioritization skills Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to remain calm under pressure and to meet deadlines Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment balancing the needs of a number of individuals and the team Capable of identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner using sound judgement and critical thinking Ability to analyze and interpret technical information and drawings Sound knowledge of quality and regulatory disciplines (ISM/ISO) Ability to carry out incident investigation and analysis Ability to lead and motivate groups and individuals Valid passport and driver’s license No travel restrictions Working Conditions

Operates in an open office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment Requires undertaking visits to vessels on location as required Requires ability to travel on occasion, some of which may be international Operates as part of on-call rotation within department Requires routine after hour and weekend work Must have a vehicle available for use Physical Requirements
