Scosche Industries has an opening for someone who is looking for an engineering challenge at a dynamic and successful car audio/consumer electronics company at its Shenzhen office. In this position, you will research, design, develop and test electronic components for commercial use utilizing knowledge of electronic theory and proven success in the consumer electronics industry.
Duties:
Lead the hardware design and development of new Consumer Tech accessory products including wired and wireless chargers, USB Type-C cables, portable powerbanks and health & fitness accessories for the consumer electronic industry.
Work with cross-functional teams including, Mechanical, Firmware, Software, Quality Assurance, and Project Management.
Confer with management, other product development staff, customers, vendors and others to discuss existing and potential engineering projects or products.
Evaluate prototypes and proposals and recommend repair or design modifications.
Provide technical support and instruction to staff or customers regarding equipment standards.
Work with component suppliers to keep abreast of more cost effective, new or leading edge technology and components.
Work with testing labs for U.S. and foreign government certifications such as UL or FCC.
Perform product tests and evaluation to ensure product compliance with desired specifications.
Develop quality control standards for overseas manufacturers.
Requirements:
· Proficient with various power supply topologies including buck, boost, and buck/boost.
· Experience with USB Power Delivery, including PPS and Shared Capacity functionalities.
· Familiarity with Qi wireless charging technology.
· Ability to draft product test procedures and specifications.
· Organize and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, schematics, layouts, and engineering changes.
· Participate in root cause analysis and recommend corrective action.
· Optimize designs to achieve goals such as performance, compactness, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
· Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, including Product Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, and supplier engineering teams.
· Stay updated on the latest technologies and solutions, and provide recommendations on their application.
· Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
· Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
· Occasional international travel required.
· Be available for off hours calls as needed.
Requirements
Must have at least 7 years of experience in consumer or automotive electronics design and development.
Product development experience with off-shore manufacturing sources including component suppliers in emerging technologies.
Must have experience taking a product from concept through mass production.
Must have experience with Schematic capture and PCB layout. Altium Designer experience preferred.
Experience with power supply design preferred
Experience with embedded system design, including, microcontrollers, battery-powered, DC/DC converters, etc.
Experience with Nordic Semiconductor Microcontrollers a plus.
BSEE or equivalent.
Extensive use of test equipment including: oscilloscopes and computer based test equipment.
Familiarity with Bluetooth and WiFi products.
Familiarity with iPod/iPhone accessory products.
Basic troubleshooting skills.
Ability to develop custom test fixtures.
Understand manufacturing processes and techniques.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
· Minimum of 7 years’ experience in power electronics
