The Laser Marking Machine Programmer is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing laser marking programs to produce high-quality marks on various materials per the customer specifications. They will ensure efficient operation of the laser marking machines and maintaining program accuracy.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Analyze customer blueprints and specifications to determine product laser marking requirements.
  • Review and provide laser marking input and direction on new and updated customer prints and specifications.
  • Define laser parameters such as power, pulse width, velocity, and focus for optimal marking results on various materials based on corrosion testing results.
  • Develop, edit, and optimize laser marking programs using specialized software (e.g., Trumpf laser marking program 5000, TruTops Mark, Trumpf Quick Flow, Trumpf CAD, Coherent laser marking Rhino software, and AutoCAD)
  • Import and convert designs as required from multiple different CAD file formats (e.g. AI, DXF, DWG, and VLF).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL and able to write simple SQL scripts to query and view data.
    • Design and execute engineering studies and tests to refine programs to achieve desired mark quality, depth, and consistency.
    • Maintain and update library of current and archived laser marking programs.
    • Perform preventative maintenance tasks for laser marking machines.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying and proposing process optimizations.
  • Machine Operation
    • Ability to setup the laser marking machines for specific jobs, install job specific tooling and fixturing, and load / position materials.
    • Operate laser marking machines safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols.
    • Monitor machine performance and adjust parameters as needed to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Other Duties:
    • Stay up to date on advancements in laser marking technology and software.
    • Assist with training new employees on laser marking procedures.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Follow all company safety regulations and procedures.
Additional Desirable Skills:
    • Experience with specific laser marking equipment and software used (e.g., Trumpf, Coherent, and Keyence)
    • Ability to design and integrate error proofing solutions such as part present sensors, vision system cameras, etc.
    • Data analytics skills such as Minitab or similar software.
    • DOE experience, as this is frequently utilized in laser marking development work for program parameter selection.
