POSITION SUMMARYThe Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the mechanical architecture, design and integration of products, tools, testers and components. This position uses experience and knowledge to design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying specific, relevant engineering principles. Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods, testing properties and developing testing processes. Develops mechanical and electromechanical products, such as machined parts, sheet metal parts and plastic parts, by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators. Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components. Manages the build of designs, prototypes and design of experiments. Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes. Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests. Creates and maintains documentation of designs such as user documentation and manuals, reference specifications, design documents and architectural descriptions. Researches and debugs customer issues, identifying the root cause and developing applicable solutions. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting in-depth research into emerging technologies and trends. Additional duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 6+ years of previous engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required. Knowledge of solid modeling, CAD software (especially SolidWorks, Inventor), and statistics High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications. Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning). Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients. Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
