Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook 2 to join our culinary team. The Cook 2 will play a key role in executing culinary creations, ensuring food quality and consistency, and contributing to a smooth kitchen operation. This position is ideal for an experienced cook looking to take on more responsibility and grow their culinary career in a dynamic kitchen environment.

Specific Duties:
  • Execute and prepare a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team in preparing mise en place, including chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients.
  • Cook and grill proteins, vegetables, and other components with precision and attention to detail.
  • Assist in creating daily specials and contributing to menu development.
  • Ensure that food presentation and plating meet the restaurant's high-quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation and assist in general kitchen cleanliness.
  • Monitor and control food waste, keeping food costs in check.
  • Assist in training and mentoring Cook 3s and other kitchen staff.
  • Support the Sous Chef or Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations during their absence.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines and help enforce kitchen policies.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain a positive and productive kitchen atmosphere.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by Sous Chef or Head Chef
  • Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP's Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated *

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Cook 2 or equivalent culinary role.
  • Culinary degree or relevant culinary certifications are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality dishes.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Food handler's certification or other relevant certifications.
  • Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation regulations.
