Location: Dallas, TX FTE Sr Accountant The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure timely and accurate accounting for project costs and fixed assetsPerforms complex, professional, technical work related to the preparation and the maintenance of the company???s fixed asset records and systemsThis position is responsible for related balance sheet reconciliations and process development within the departmentThis position works with various financial and governmental auditors with respect to project and audit preparationsConsiderable judgment and independence are required to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, rules, and State and Federal laws and regulations Job Functions: Records fixed asset additions and retirements in PowerPlanAssists in formulating accounting policy and procedures involved in the tracking of job costs and maintenance of property, plant, and equipment recordsReconciles plant-related balance sheet accountsAssists in reviewing, interpreting, and correcting all information in PowerPlanWorks with various business unit representatives to resolve questions related to job/project costsAbility to cover all Fixed Asset Accounting duties during absence of others in groupPerforms research, journal entries, and fixed asset entries, as neededTrack job/project costs to include maintaining labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs for construction work in progress accountsIdentify issues or factors inhibiting progress on individual projects, collect and analyze data THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT ATTEMPT TO LIST ALL OF THE DUTIES THAT ARE OR MAY BE PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION Primary Duties 1Prepares complex monthly accounting journal entries. 2Prepares monthly account reconciliations. 3Oversees and/or processes the monthly close cycle. 4Creates, updates, reviews, investigates and distributes schedules and financial reports pertaining to various phases of accounting functions. 5Coordinates the preparation, analysis and verification of complex accounting reports to support responses to data requests in connection with regulatory filings and audits. 6Ensures that all transactions are properly supported and are in accordance with GAAP, FERC, SOX, and other regulatory requirements. 7May provide guidance, direction and training to other employees engaged in similar activities as well as other internal customers. 8Documents accounting procedures, processes, and internal controlsReviews for effectiveness and recommends revisions as necessary. 9Assists in the development and implementation of various computerized accounting related systems, both in-house and packaged, to enhance the value of financial information provided to managementMay develop and deliver training for various computerized accounting related systemsProvide user support to accounting systems. 10Provides internal and external customer support when needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Educational/Experience Level: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and four years of related experience in Accounting, or equivalent. A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 7 years of related experience in Accounting. CPA preferred. Communication Skills: Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no background in the area under discussion, verbally and in writing.
