About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant/Sr Accountant to join our team at American Airlines. As a key member of our Finance Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and complex financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Develop and maintain process maps and internal controls to ensure SOX compliance.
  • Provide guidance on accounting issues to business groups and assist in providing training to new employees.
  • Represent the department in meetings and communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Perform various other functions and ad-hoc projects as assigned to aid in the department's/company's achievement of goals and business objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3 years of accounting experience in a corporate accounting department.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or MBA, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Skills and Qualifications
  • CPA preferred.
  • Fundamental accounting, internal controls, and SOX knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to lead and participate in projects.
  • Ability to establish metrics, coach and mentor junior employees and provide performance feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience testing systems using a standardized methodology for documentation.
  • Knowledge of SAP general ledger and Hyperion Financial Management reporting tool.
