Join us as a Senior Underwriter and assume a strategic, operational, and cultural leadership role in the Underwriting Department and assist with various day-to-day tasks and analytical projects.

Responsibilities

Risk Assessment for Senior Living Facilities: Evaluate insurance applications for senior living facilities, considering factors such as facility size, services offered, staff qualifications, and safety protocols.

Policy Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting policies tailored to the unique risks associated with senior living. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging risks.

Collaboration with Stakeholders: Attend and lead internal and external meetings as necessary. Expected to develop relationships with the various Committees of the Board.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations and insurance standards. Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact the senior living insurance landscape.

Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of the underwriting process, outlining reasons for decisions, risk assessments, and any additional requirements imposed.

Risk Mitigation Strategies: Identify potential risks within the senior living insurance portfolio and collaborate with risk management teams to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.

Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters within the senior living insurance team. Share industry insights and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in general insurance, business, or a related field.

Extensive experience in underwriting with a focus on insurance, actuarial science/premium setting, or liberal arts. 8 years of insurance experience and 4 years of underwriting experience required.

In-depth knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting practices, and regulations related to senior living.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail and thoroughness in risk assessment.

Adaptability to changing industry conditions.

Proficiency in using underwriting software and insurance industry tools.

CPCU and any other insurance licenses preferred, but not required

Computer Skills: Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI. Ability to learn our policy system quickly and create & run the necessary data reports.
