This Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for preparing, keying and posting journal entries, reviewing/reconciling general ledger accounts to supporting documentation, assisting in the preparation of financial statements; including but not limited to balance sheets and income statements. This role will also assist with yearly audits.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Complete reconciliations of General Ledger Accounts; including Prepaid, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets • Complete bank reconciliations • Record and post journal entries • Process cash receipts and manage electronic payments • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and monthly financial packages • Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests and other analyses and special projects requested by management • Assist with financial and SOX audits • Maintain monthly schedules used in the preparation and completion of the month-end closing process • Perform duties in compliance with GAAP, company policies and procedures • Complete insurance program payments for franchisees • Complete processing of audit payments to franchisees • Other duties as assigned

Competency – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, One Drive, Share Point) • Knowledge of accounting fundamentals • Knowledge of financial statements • Knowledge of finance- related systems • Knowledge of ADP or similar payroll agent • Excellent Communication skills (written and oral) • Math skills • Analytical and Problem-Solving skills • Stress Management and Composure skills • Ability to learn and operate our primary finance-related systems; Sage, Quickbooks, and Great Plains • Ability to read and understand technical forms and financial reports • Ability to create reports • Ability to create financial documents and spreadsheets • Ability to follow processes and procedures pertaining to the department and company • Ability to work office equipment (fax, scanner, printer, phone system, computers) • Ability to work independently • Ability to work under specific time deadlines • Ability to pass and maintain a satisfactory background check • Ability to maintain a level of confidentiality • Ability to follow the Paul Davis Values, Vision, Mission, and 10 Serving Basics

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field • 2 plus years’ experience in an accountant role • Experience in supervision of payroll associates

Preferred Education and Experience

• CPA or CPA candidate • 5 plus years’ experience in an accountant role • Experience with GL accounts • Experience with preparing financial statements and year end audits

Physical Requirement

• Must be able to stay in a stationary position up to 100% of the time • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, fax machine, copy machine, and computer printer. • Must be able to observe and perceive information on a computer and documents • Must be able to communicate and converse with customers over the phone • Occasionally will lift up to 10lbs • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle

Work Environment

The employee will be working indoors. The employee will be exposed to air conditioning and heat. The employees will be exposed to normal noises throughout the office.

Travel

This position may require up to 5% travel. This position may require travel for trainings.
