Reporting to the Director of Population Health Management, the Senior Analyst, Population Health Management is responsible for assisting with guiding cost effectiveness interventions and providing analytic expertise and support for all projects performed within the Department. The position requires utilizing various internal and external mixed data sources (clinical and financial) to understand DFCI’s patient population and to help improve the quality and efficiency of care DFCI provides. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct payment policies analysis and reviews to keep up to date the oncology payment reform knowledge asset for the Institute. Prepare complex, comprehensive, iterative, timely and accurate multi-part multi-payer analyses to support several lines of financial business across the Institute. Develop summary detailing important insights and opportunities for designated business client(s). Assist with preparing detailed analyses to support clinical and cost-effectiveness projects. Assist in the development, implementation, and operation of systems and processes to support the activities and goals of the department. Support ad hoc analytic requests, providing accurate and timely data analysis and insightful interpretations. Develop dashboards to monitor and trend KPIs. Support the design, development, execution, dissemination and interpretation of clinical and population health analyses, metrics and reports using clinical, member, financial and administrative data. Escalate any known barriers that may hinder the department from achieving deadlines and goals. Serve as a resource to interns and co-op students.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Epidemiology, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance or related field; Master’s degree in Health Care Administration, Health Care Policy and Management, Epidemiology or Statistics, or Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care preferred. 4 years related Analyst experience in healthcare industry. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Demonstrated record of data-driven discovery, intense intellectual curiosity, and a passion for working with data to answer important questions about clinical care and population health. Proficiency, knowledge and familiarity with databases (i.e. SQL) and a variety of Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Access, Stata, SAS etc.). Competent with additional Microsoft Office suite software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, etc.). Knowledge of health care delivery systems, payment reform and cost containment strategies including population health management interventions and provider contracting methodologies are desired. Some knowledge of billing and health care claims is strongly desired. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively work and communicate with all levels of the organization and key stakeholders, internally and externally. Strong programming abilities and/or statistical software skills (SQL and/or SAS) and Tableau. Comfortable learning new software tools and other project specific software. Proven ability to document business requirements and ability to design and develop reports. Ability to function independently with minimal direction in a fast-paced highly matrixed environment while managing multiple priorities. Flexible in coordinating complex activities that are often subject to rapid or extensive changes.
